Treatment Overview
Neuro & Biofeedback
After the brain map is completed, treatment moves to CBT strategies using Neuro/Biofeedback modalities as a measuring and training medium. Using the brains natural neuroplasticity, we can develop new circuits between neurons using non-invasive training instruments. We are able to measure real-time feedback on patient’s brainwave and bodily activities to correct them accordingly and get the desired result.
When brain or body activity changes in the desired direction, a positive “reward”, typically in the form of a visual display and sound, is given to the patient. After repeating this process, the brain experiences training similar to how the body experiences a workout. Repetition is key here.
QEEG Brainmapping
All treatment plans begin with a Quantitative Electroencephalogram, or QEEG. This involves putting on a helmet to read brain wave activity at 19 different locations in the brain using a cutting edge piece of equipment called a Dry Electrode EEG System, or a “Dry Q Cap”. Enhanced Edge, LLC is the only practice in Delaware to own this specific FDA cleared Dry Q system.
This procedure allows the clinician to take a comprehensive ‘picture’ of the brain by observing the hypo/hyperactivity of the brainwaves. This brain map shows the clinician precisely how the client is functioning cognitively, executively, emotionally, and behaviorally.
The clinician then spends hours reviewing and researching the data to develop an extensive Clinical Diagnostic Report and Treatment Plan specific to that client and their brain.
Psychotherapy Foundation
The Enhanced Edge treatment approach is heavily based in traditional Psychotherapy practice. Our clinicians use state-of-the-art and FDA cleared Neuro/Biofeedback equipment to effectively measure, monitor, and document client progress - but the foundation is still CBT-based.
Unlike other Neuro/Biofeedback clinics, Enhanced Edge clinicians are all licensed mental health providers meaning they can ethically diagnose and treat mental health disorders using CBT strategies. Clinicians are trained in Neuro/Biofeedback and QEEG Brainmapping modalities to use in addition to Psychotherapy as necessary.
Peak Performance
Beyond treatment, Neuro & Biofeedback can be used on a clinically "healthy" brain to increase cognitive and biological optimal performance. In Performance Psychology, this is referred to as ‘Peak Performance’ and applies psychological principles to improve in-the-moment performance skills.
Athletes, business professionals, performing artists, surgeons, military, emergency personnel, and other specialists that require brilliant mental and physical processing can learn how to consciously get their brains into a state of improved attention, focus, discipline and aim.
Peak Performance brain training is often part of the training program for Olympians and professional athletes in the NFL, NBA, and NHL.
